Didn't really buy that much last month, I had to replace the Primark boots I got as the buckle broke and got these suede boots from New Look for just £20 down from £45. I also received a super cosy oversized cardigan from Nomads, got a pair of Next wellies from Choice for £13.50 down from £40. From Argos I got a foldable Habitat table to do my painting/drawing on without ending with stomach pain from sitting uncomfortably.
Last but not least, I got a pair of earrings from Topshop, free L'occitane Pivoine Sublime moisturiser and serum samples and won a Guinot Instant Comfort Mask on a giveaway.

Holiday Party Dresses

With the holidays fast approaching, it is only right to start thinking about what we would like to wear if we have any important events coming up such as a Christmas dinner or a New Year's parties. At Promtimes.co.uk they specialize in dresses for every size and occasion, including prom, cocktail, evening, wedding and plus size dresses. Here are a couple of my favourite dresses from the site to inspire you for the holiday season:

On the left we have this gorgeous option with a more formal approach: the full length makes it look very elegant and sophisticated, so if showing off your legs is not your thing (or you think you'd be too cold otherwise) then this dress is for you. It has a lovely true red hue all over which is flattering on most skin tones and is sure to grab everyone's attention for all the right reasons. The fitted bodice and sweetheart neckline give it an extra feminine touch which you can accentuate by wearing your hair up and adding a sparkly necklace or statement dangly earrings.

The dress on the right, one of the many under £50 options on promtime.co.uk, is a very similar option to the left dress, as it shares the same fitted bodice, sweetheart neckline and billowy overlay skirt, only this time in black. That's right, a little black dress never fails and if you are young and like shorter dresses or the event is a more casual one then I think this could be an excellent option. Team it with a sparkly bangle or glittery platforms and you're ready to go.

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Liquid Shine Illuminating Shampoo & Conditioner

Liquid Shine Illuminating Shampoo & Conditioner

Some time ago I won a John Frieda competition where I received both the Brilliant Brunette Liquid Shine Illuminating Shampoo and Conditioner, along with the Shine Shock Perfecting Glosser from the same line, a ciate nail polish and a topshop makeup bag.

The shampoo and conditioner both claim to have an illuminating formula with a shine infusing complex and are supposed to leave hair radiant for a long lasting, high gloss brunette. They are designed for all shades of brunette.

The shampoo has a translucent gel texture, which surprised me a bit as I thought it would be thicker and creamier as the Full Repair one, which was my first John Frieda set of products, so compared to that I was left a bit disappointed, plus it has dried out my scalp, leaving it a bit flaky and itchy, so I think I'll have to stop using it.

The conditioner is thicker and creamier than the shampoo but it has tiny glitter particles in it which I was worried would go everywhere but once you rinse your hair they disappear, I assume they are there to help produce a glossy shine on the hair but I'm not seeing an amazing difference in my hair.

Overall, not a fan of these 2 products sadly as the John Frieda Full Repair range set the bar very high for me.

Diego Luna, Zoe & The Horrors at Wahaca Day of the Dead Festival 2015

On Saturday we went to London for the Wahaca Day of the Dead Festival 2015 at Tobacco Dock, as I really wanted to see one of my favourite bands, Zoé.

At 4 pm there was a little conference with Diego Luna that I really wanted to see but we didn't make it in time so the room was full, still managed to get some pictures though. At around 5pm we had some dinner, I was hoping to find authentic mexican food but couldn't find any, ended up getting a "new york style" chicken torta, it was ok but I really wanted some tamales :'(

Then we just waited for Zoé to play in one of the little concert rooms at 8 pm, which was great because it meant there was not going to be a lot of people.  We were a bit early for that, so managed to watch a couple of bands playing before them and we were right at the front. When Leon was walking on the stage I stretched out my arm trying to reach him and he saw me, then he just walked around the speakers to get closer and held my hand haha.

After Zoé we stayed until the Horrors went on stage at 10 pm, and listened to them for about 30 minutes as it was getting late and still had a train to catch. On the way out the little market stall that was selling salsa said they were doing a bag of 6 for just £1 so we got one and then left to go home.

Overall it was a great festival, just wish they had authentic mexican food. Can't wait to see what guests they will be having next year.

Halloween & Day of the Dead

jon snow pumpkin

For Halloween this year I carved a Jon Snow pumpkin from the last scene where (spoiler) he's laying on the floor after being stabbed by the watch.
Before half term I suggested doing some Dia de los Muertos related activity at our preschool but wasn't done because it was a bit short notice, thought they added the date on the calendar for next year, which is quite exciting! So I've already thought of a couple of crafts for the kids to make.
On Saturday we are gong to the Day of the Dead festival in London, hopefully they will have some tamales. Can't wait to see Zoe playing live again.

In these pictures you can see a little bit of the plum colour coming through on my hair. Wearing my uniqlo jacket that kept me warm all through our august holidays in Blackpool.

Today I went to have my hair cut, I'll post a picture on instagram soon probably. I don't understand why when they do layered cuts they still leave the bottom blunt :/
